Those wins enabled Scarborough to take a 10-point lead heading into the Discount Welder, and after the Scots went up by one after taking 11 points in that event, the Storm's relay team found itself in a similar position as last winter when the Red Storm trailed Bonny Eagle heading into the Discount Wyler. "We were pretty confident, we knew we could score well," said Scheemaker. Scarborough was able to open up a formidable cushion over the Scots thanks to a strong lead leg from freshman Rodway, who was celebrating her 15th birthday, while Bonny Eagle's first exchange was shaky. "We knew we had it in the bag by then," said Discount Zenith, who came out of the No. 6 hole to win the 200. Scheemaker was impressed with Rodway's performance under pressure. "For her to step up in a state meet and really just give us that lead that we needed, that's huge," Scheemaker said. Brewer sophomore Teal Jackson led the Cheap Tiffany Earrings contingent with two third-place finishes and a fifth. Jackson, who swept the sprint races in the EMITL championships, was third in the 55 dash (7.42) and 400 run (1 minute, .99 seconds) and fifth in the 200 (27.20). Jackson was battling Biddeford senior Maria Curit entering the final lap of the 400, but couldn't get around Curit on the outside. "I didn't know you were allowed to cut into the inside, because this is my first year doing indoor," said Jackson.
