Max was adopted by the family when he was 10, so he has a complex relationship with Power Walk Charm and her mother, Susan. "Your parents were complementary," Max tells Suzanna. "Your father denied problems and your mother rubbed your face in them." Duck Charm has taken on a lover who seems interested mostly in the money Max tells her she doesn't have.
