The JROTC started gathering the gifts two weeks ago, according to Sgt. Christian Louboutin Pumps James Callahan. The students bandied about ideas of a clothing drive or contributing to the March of Dimes before deciding in a vote Dec. 3 to collect the gifts. Callahan described the boxes as general purpose care packages. He said some students brought in as many as six gifts. While not all of the cadets could afford to contribute, each found a way to assist the effort. One cadet crossed the street and convinced a local business to donate shoe boxes. Clerk of Court Mark Hammonds was one local official affiliated with Faith-Based Center of Hope who was present as the students turned the gifts over for distribution. He said six of the 10 Commandments relate the ways that people are supposed to act regarding others. He commended the cadets' service of the community. Heading the organization is Vancine Sturdivant. She said children on lists given by the Department of Social Services and Anson Crisis Ministry will be surprised with the gifts Friday night.
