Though some of the company's managers voiced skepticism about the expensive Tiffany Engine-turned money clip sales potential, Tiffany himself did not -- and he immediately ordered samples for his London and Paris stores as well as New York. Two years later, Driscoll's pioneering "Dragonfly" lamp won a gold medal after being showcased in Tiffany's celebrated booth at the 1900 Paris World's Fair. Despite that high profile, Tiffany Elsa Peretti until the development of "Tiffany Lamps: Objects of Utility, Objects of Art" has any exhibit focused on the ways in which craftsmanship, function and design united to produce this decorative arts milestone. "It's very easy to be mesmerized by the color and beauty of these lamps. "But this show not only offers some very inviting objects to look at but a lot of new research and scholarship, too, especially regarding the origin of the designs and the craftsmanship required to carry them out. Trained at Cleveland's Western Reserve School of Design for Women and the Metropolitan Museum of Art School, Driscoll rose quickly, becoming head of Tiffany's newly formed Women's Glass Cutting Department in 1892.
