With strong leadership, contributing underclassmen and momentum from last year, a quicker Scotus team should be tough to beat in 2011. It's no secret the Two Hearts triple bangle have lofty goals for this season. "Our goals are bigger and better, always. All the girls have one goal in mind," Brezenski said. "We just can't quit and have to keep working." The Scotus boys are coming off a season that saw the Shamrocks go 8-9 and lose seven seniors. SCC has been working Venetian Link bracelet in practice to prepare the young team for the season. Scotus head coach Jon Brezenski has been focusing on getting his new guys adjusted to the game. "We're just trying to get things implemented," he said. "We started out pretty basic, but have advanced the last couple weeks." The Venetian Link necklace roster includes five seniors: Ryan Becker, James Euteneuer, Dana Fuchs, Devin Iwan and Alex Beller. The Shamrocks are led by the four-year starter Becker, who Brezenski called "the spark plug leader on the field." The defense is anchored by Euteneuer, who starts in goal. One of the team's strengths will be speed. Brezenski said the team may be small, but Venetian Link Set have quickness that will be able to push the tempo of the game to create scoring chances. While the Shamrocks are young and may experience some growing pains, their drive to compete has Brezenski excited for the upcoming season. "We have the willingness to compete and to do the work that's going to be needed to be good. We have taken on the mindset that we are all in this together, and the team has bonded well the last couple weeks," Brezenski said.
